Hello all,
I have been making use of the free weekend ancestry.
I have looked up Matilda George in 1891 census (I have 1871 and 1881). Have found her with a note beside saying Matilda Hoare (taylor nee George) I am unable to find a Hoare marriage for her. although a few of George/Hoare marriages are in my family. so I do think this is my matilda
Could someone look on the census and tell me if they think she is married to the lodger William taylor.
I put in the search box matilda George b 1868 (range 2 years) b Gloucester.
Many thanks
anne

Explanation given for the correction of name

"Matilda Taylor nee George rather than Matilda Hoare
Correction due to an error in transcription.
Matilda is the wife of William Jabez Taylor (just above her in the census). No relation to the Cardwells, just lodging with them. Matilda is in fact a stepsister to Kate (Sarah Catherine Hoare (Hore), listed above her but actually next door.

Nothing about 'Hoare' on the image........must be something added by someone on Ancestry.........not always reliable

Thankyou all.

It seems I have been following the correct family. I have matilda and William living in dover in either the 1901 or 1911 census. Thought I had better reply before any of you started looking at the census for me.
Rambling rose how do you get the information up which Arthur George posted.
Thankyou
Anne

Who are you actually connected to?

Anne, just click on the line where it says " Matilda Taylor nee George" it is highlighted in green but doesn't show up very well, you will then get a box come up in middle of screen with that info .

For clarification.......Matilda was sister-in-law to Clara (nee Hoare)

Don't know where the Ancestry poster got the idea she was a step-sister!

The above post are correct, I will go and see if I can find her as matilda taylor in the 1901 and 1911 census. I have now ruled out the dover/kent census as his name was Harry, and not as I thought William.

I enjoy searching and only come on here to ask when I am stuck . I be back if I cant find her.

thankyou
Anne
