I am researching John Simmonds 1843=1894. He was married twice to Hannah Steadman and Elizabeth Thompson. His mother and father were Ellen Hodnet and William Simmonds. I have found him in all census from 1841-1891 except for 1871 where I am unable to track him down. I am also keen to find out more about his father William Simmonds born 1821. I believe Williams father was another William but am not sure. Can anyone help with either query please? Thanking you in hopes.

In Birkenhead in all other census. Yes Greyghost this definitely looks like William as its the right name and date for his son John.Many thanks for that. Will have to look up some of the other in formation you asked for so will have to get back to you on that.

Good morning Diamonds. Thanks for sending th third marriage certificate. Am a bit confused as he had the following children who I thought were all by the second wife

I have no date of death for Elizabeth Thompson but there is a gap between the dates of the birth of the previous child and Sarah in 1881 so it is possible that Elizabeth died somewhere in between and all the above children are actually Hannah Jones. Bit more research needed methinks!!

Have worked it out.. The children up to William were Elizabeth Thompson@s. Only William was Hannah Steadman's and all those listed above were Hannah Jones. Result!! Best regards. Wendy
