I am trying to find information on my great great grandparents I know they married in middlesbrough in Jan 1890 they were both from Ireland he was a fireman on a steamer and they had a daughter born in 1890/91 called mary Ellen my great great grandmothers maiden name was Bolton but when I check the census for 1901 I can't find them then in1911 mary Ellen appears married to Edward Blair but nothing in between especially for Thomas not even a death any help would be much appreciated

Have you got their marriage certificate for their Father's names, their ages (possibly) and anything else useful?
Have you found them in 1891 census?

Is the daughter definitely Mary Ellen?

Hello, have you got details of them on the 1891 census? Do you know if the above 1891 posted by safc is correct? Where did you get the info re Thomas occupation?
Any extra details might help us to find him :)

Have marriage certificate for ellen and thomas married 18th Jan 1890 st Mary's cathedral middlesbrough his dad was William keogh labourer and thomas was a fireman on a steamer Ellen's dad was William Bolton they were 21and20 I know that she appears in the 1891 census in the workhouse but there is nothing in the 1901 for any off them there was a rumour thomas died at sea ellen came to England with her sister Bessie who married a man called Jules Pierre who was also a seaman but I just keep drawing a blank in those 10 years frustrated

Who were witnesses to the marriage?

Perhaps they went back to Ireland for a time? (Note daughter Mary was born England)

Did you think they are Tinninghams or Finnighans - probably Irish Finnighans, wonder if connected by birth also?

Possible James E Finnigan in 1891 Scotland
