Thank you for that. Somehow I don't think my missing person was declared dead more likely bigamous marriages followed.

It would be in the normal GRO records or if overseas would be on a different GRO. Indices

It may be sometime after the actual date of death though if it had to wait for a coroner to certify the death

Hi everyone,
Does anybody know how I find out if a missing person was legally declared dead ?
Would it show on the normal death records or is there a separate register ?
