Adding second spouses

Just one further query folks. Before I became able to add second spouses, I have sometimes created a new record for the person with more than one spouse. Is it possible to integrate the two records for that person into one record, without having to delete all the offspring from the second record?

Sincere thanks to Kense, Andysmum, Cynthia and Grannyfanny for all your helpful responses to my query.

Grannyfranny, that's not a bad idea. I might try that and then I would be my mother's daughter and not my stepmother's!! :-S

Andysmum, my ggrandad had 2 wives. second wife Ms P, b 1855, and first wife Ms C, b 1861, that is the order they appear in. Ms P has no children with him, so they don't appear, Ms C has some who do. I just added pretend wife 3, called Ms A, b 1861, she appears as wife 3.
And then I changed the DOB of Ms P to 1862, and she reappeared as wife 3.

So it does depend on the age order.

If it suits my tree better I sometimes enter an amended DOB to get the wife in the right position on the tree, and make a note of her correct DOB in notes.

Add the second spouse in exactly the same way as you added the first

Grannyfranny you may well be right, but in my case they are alphabetical as well!

I think you'll find that when you add more wives they appear in age order.

And when you add a child, you are asked who the parents are, you just select the correct pair.

I have had no trouble adding spouses using Kense's instructions.

What does annoy me ,though, is that there seems to be no way of putting them in chronological order!!

My father was married twice. His second wife has a maiden name which comes before that of his first wife (alphabetically) so second wife is shown first! I was apparently the child of his two wives!! :-S :-S :-S

Victorian ancestors with more than two spouses and children from all of them simply don't make sense from looking at the tree.

One ancestor had 4 wives. They appear in the order 4-1-3-2 - completely daft!

You click on the person you want to add another spouse to. Click on Add, then click on Spouse.

If the new spouse is already on the tree then select Find Existing and type their name in. Then select them from the list that is displayed.

If that doesn't work then it sounds like a job for [email protected]

I am having some problems when trying to add a second spouse to a name on my tree, i.e. relatives who have been married twice. How do I show two husbands with one name please? :-(
