Hi, can someone kindly explain that over the years when I have posted a thread say i.e.
Joe Bloggs of UK. then if I was to google this I find that my post/thread in on the website.
Must mention that not all my threads are on website.

It's because genes is an open site so anything posted on it can be picked up by Google

It's why personal info shouldn't be posted on the threads ,and is why helpers do point it out to folks when they post full dates of births ,emails addresses etc

That's why those of who are aware always advise people to think twice about what they post.

Mind you, at the moment, it can be a blessing, as the advanced search is still not functioning, and GR show no signs of fixing it
