The UK Ancestry site recognises me every time.. But the Australian one doesn't always know me and keeps offering me a free trial etc and it is a right song and dance just trying to log on.

FMP was playing up also. I had this long list of hits for one I was looking up and then I went to go to page 2 and the site told me that they had nothing for him at all when I had just been reading several of the people under that name on page one.

I find it annoying to have to keep logging in . I don't log out of any of the genealogy sites so I don't have to keep remembering passwords to get back in again

I only noticed the changes today and they confused this old girl from the start!!

Ancestry has changed the place of death of my gt.grandparents from Co. Durham to Maryland, Connecticut, USA. I am able to edit this on their pages. However it also appears on the pages of their children and I am unable to edit it from there.

Also, I wanted to make a comment re a marriage. The subjects in the drop down list include marriage banns and marriage licence - not just marriage.

Changes for the better? I think not.

I have shared my Ancestry tree twice in the last week.
( one to a new family member., the other accidentally removed her own access)

Both invitees accepted the invite and they have no issues viewing it?

Flip me Gins. You're in the wrong job!

Gee Report 19 Jul 2015 17:36

I was looking to email Ancestry regarding the 'share' facility which hasn't worked since the site update

I didn't know they have 'hire an expert'

Here are the fees, well starting at!

Standard professional genealogical and family history research pricing starts at

US $2300 (£1474) or 20 hours of research.

Factors that can increase the cost and time include:

•Immigration Research

•Multiple Ancestor Research

•Pre-1850s Research

•Onsite International Research

So, do I take it from that, that the fee is for only 1 ancestor :-0

I particularly like the "tip" which says when searching for a married woman, to search under her maiden name......then when you try, it brings up references under the married name with the maiden name American style as a 2nd forename. No help when you are searching for a birth/baptism.

This update hasn't delivered anything positive as far as I can see!

It also logs you out if you haven't been active for a while

I hate it when they "upgrade" as nothing works the same afterwards and the changes are not always for the better

Since the updates to the website, I have been having trouble searching at Ancestry

For example, I search in BMDs and it sometimes restricts the search to 'births and deaths' and no marriage search available

Likewise, it might just give me deaths!

I don't have 'exact' in any of the search terms
