My relative died in 1918, I believe from the flu epidemic. Is there any records from that period that would show this?

I wouldn't think so. You need the death cert.

One of my grandfathers died early in 1919 of the flu. He had an normal burial in West London.

We knew he had died of the flu and the death certificate confirmed it.

............. but only the death certificate will tell you what he died from

An aunt died aged 19 in 1919.

It's a 50/50 chance if the cause was Spanish Flu or TB. One of these days we'll buy the DC!
