You can get free BMD info on the GlosBMD site

I think the Gloucestershire BMD site only has records post-registration

Ancestry has added earlier parish records

for example Bristol which it says is back to 1538

thanks Mr Magoo, I don't keep track of these things and Bristol happens to hold some interest for me :-)

edit ... that seems kind of pointless what Ancestry has

before the early 1800s (judging by the records I know of that are there) there is nothing but a list of names ... the name on the record, associated names (which may be parents or spouses?), no dates or places, no identification of what kind of record it is ... I don't know how that is supposed to be much use!

There is a distinction between BMD's and PR's

I am fully aware that Ancestry has some PR's for Gloucestershire

At the last count,

Baptisms to 1913

Marriages to 1935

Burials to 1988

that's nice :-D

Ancestry has added baptism, marriage and burial records from parish records for Gloucestershire.

I rather thought that was what Mr Magoo meant, myself ...
