you're welcome, I'm glad that worked, because when I logged out and tried after the midnight deadline it said the code was no longer valid!

99.75 AUD is exactly what I paid :-)

I think it must have been Australian dollars, my credit card company is going to charge me the princely sum of £46.61
That decorating is not going to be completed for some time
Thank you once again for the link

Stewart :-)

I am not sure whether it is Australian or US dollars but either way I am quite happy.

I'll have to try to remember that next year :-D

too late now, but I think if you order/pay through the AUS site (that's what my tiny URL linked to - it was part of their 'convict ancestors' promotion), you pay the AUS price :-)

I did!

What I've said before is it is always worth signing up for any freebie that comes along at FMP and Ancestry - they will then notify you of any free weekends, special discounts, and so on.

I got Ancestry worldwide for half price right at the end of 2014, too, after I'd let my sub lapse a while back. Now I just have to try to keep it that way!

and with currency fluctuating as it is doing these days, also check out the other Ancestry portals when it's time to renew.

worldwide right now
at ancestry.com is 299 USD
at ancestry.co.uk is 180 GBP
at ancestry.ca is 300 CAD
at ancestry.com.au is 300 AUD

the USD, CAD and AUD prices are all the same, but paying in CAD or AUD costs a lot less than paying in USD, because the US dollar buys you more CA or AU dollars

the AU dollar is the cheapest currency, so ...

300 AUD is
- 287 CAD
- 219 USD !!
- 140 GPB

so it looks like everybody would be best off buying through .com.au

180 GBP is
- 281 USD
- 368 CAD
- 385 AUD

so paying 300 AUD -- 140 GBP -- is a good saving from £180

People in the US especially would be crazy to pay full US price when the price in US, CA and AU dollars is the same (300) but their US dollars buy so many more of those dollars

anyway I've always found with Ancestry that it's very worthwhile to shop all the portals and figure out where it's cheapest to subscribe at any given time.

(of course if you're only wanting UK records as I always used to have, that's only available through .co.uk)

here's the handy currency converter for checking it out

To clarify, this is for the World Sub.

The sterling/UK cost works out more.

World sub - Full annual fee £129.50
So 50% = £64.75

Not bad considering the 'Britain' package (which doesn't inc Irish records) is £99.50!

(Friday)

for some reason this isn't posting; I'm going to try making the FMP link a tinyurl link ...

In case this wasn't posted earlier, and I should have posted it earlier myself if not, but I was dithering and almost forgot about it.

I use Ancestry but thought I'd try a year of FMP to look for loose ends.
