How to add another "mother/father/spouse"

The title of this post is probably a bit unusual, but the difficulty lies with an ancestor having an "unknown" father. The mother is named. The person was then adopted by another couple, who went on to have three children of their own.

I'm finding it difficult to add the information to my fam ily tree, as there is nothing that I'm aware of that allows me to add this type of information.

Obviously if I try to add another "mother/father/spouse" the existing information is automatically deleted. Am I missing something that should be relatively easy and staring me right in the face.

Would be grateful for any help that anyone can offer me, as I cannot add anything else to my tree without first adding information about the adoption and the names of the people who adopted him.

Thank you, in advance.

Valerie
