	You should be able to request a 'wide' search, but if the information you supply doesn't match with what the informant said, it may not be issued. State that you don't know the GRO ref then pick a mid range year. They'll search a couple of years either side. If the Estate went to probate, you might find a listing on the Probate Calendar https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/#wills Not so useful if they had a common name. The probate offices cover a wide area + it didn't have to be submitted to the closest one.

Member Since: October 2005 Posts: 4 Send Message	Can someone please give me a tip on how to find a death which is from 2008 to 2012? There is nothing on Ancestry after 2007. Looked in local papers & cemetery records. Can you apply for a certificate at the GRO with such a wide range on dates? I have his full name and date of birth. Many thanks
