There's no 50 year rule. It's possible to order Scottish birth certificates for as recently as 2014.

Don't think so Rose . But I haven't bought a post c1912 birth cert form them

I,ve only got the death cert for my auntie who died about 10 years ago .

I know you can view online birth certs for up to about c1912 through the site .

If it's the same rule as the GRO then it should be OK as the birth is just over the 50 years ago

Sheila you won't find the info online for that time period I,m afraid you will have to buy the cert through Scotlands People . The last time I bought one it was £10 .think it's still about the same price

Sheila, you would have to order the cert using the ref numbers ( assuming what you mean is that you have found the birth reg on SP? if that's not the case my apologies. ) .

If you have the cert then it would name his parents surely ??? :-)

I already got the 1964 birth in Glasgow from Scotlands People.

This man is still living. You could try asking him :-D
