1939 register.....brick wall down at last!

I have been wishing and wishing that the next census release was closer so that I could break down my brick wall. Little did I know the 1939 register would hand me a key to unlock the door to my paternal grandmother's side of the family.

I have no family members to ask, apart from a cousin who is as much in the dark as me, and my Mum, who died in Feb this year, didn't know anything about her Mother in law apart from her being of Irish descent. Her maiden name of Bryant was also shown as Brian and Bryan on various documents (such as my Dad and Uncle's birth certs!) so searching was impossible. Yesterday the 1939 register showed her full Dob. Hooray!!
I have now found her in births and on a census showing her mother was most definitely Irish! Still can't find a marriage to my Grandfather though.......
Have sent for her birth cert and may well have it framed! I have been waiting a very long-time for this..........
So the register may turn out to be more useful for some than others......

That's excellent Marion, good to hear that the 1939 has helped someone with their search :-)
