What line of business were they in, Lin?

And when you say they lived in Goodman Street, do you mean that was the Browns' home address, or where their business premises were?

see http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards/board/genealogy_chat/thread/1355951

The Brown was where Linda's grandfather had worked but I would not swear to my interpretation of the school roll.

LancashireAnn ....

could that address be Mr Brown Goodman St Hunslet Lane Leeds

After much trawling, I don't see any Browns in Goodman Street in either 1901 or 1911.

Of course, it could be a business name, not an actual person resident in the street.

There were places called Brown's Yard, and Brown's Place, quite close to Goodman Street - but whether relevant or not, I don't know.

I don't know if it was their business address or home address that was all that was on his reformatory report I assumed business but if he was in service it could be a home. I also assumed he was male but if he was in service it could be female

I wasn't sure whether it was Mr or Mrs Brown when I looked at that entry

lancashireAnn Report 6 Nov 2015 21:57

When I looked at the entry I could just read M Brown, Goodman St. Hunslet Lane. Leeds

(sorry Sylvia , I missed the Lane bit before.)

I trawled the even nos of Goodman St but could not find anything that seemed relevant
