Thank you ArgyllGran -
I have found the community on here exemplary and can't thank you all enough.
Any advise is always welcomed and gratefully received. :-)

Good luck with that, Jeffrey!

Many of us have suggested useful improvements to GR over the years, with little or no result or response.

Many thanks Kense.
Due to a lack of response from Genesreunited themselves, I am thinking your idea is the best. Moving away from Genes as others have suggested & done. The trees are promoted as being transferable (other than additional data), and having paid membership for another year in the knowledge that I can take it elsewhere is very disappointing not to mention frustrating given the additional hours required on re-building it. GR have our money to improve the website, not just to exist.
I value your opinion Kense, and hope to find a simple solution hopefully offered by Genesreunited, as this is a perfectly simple request. :-(

There aren't any options on GR for exporting anything other than the full tree (as best it can).

I don't know what size of tree you have but I would recommend that you make your master tree on Roots Magic or MyHistory. You will have to manually add or correct the missing members but there is little point in keeping your GR tree as a master.

The GR tree was good as a starting point but its development has not kept pace with other sites and unless GR put some effort into development I can't see it improving.

When you have a reliable tree on another site you can always update your GR tree from a GEDCOM produced by the other site, subject to the limitations of GEDCOMS.

Thanks for your reply (ArgyllGran).
It is to RootsMagic that I have been advised to use and having now paid for the upgrade to the full version I have found the same problem. Infact It doesn't matter where I export it to - I encounter the same problem.
In some occasions I am missing whole families of siblings (all showing in my Genes Tree), other occasions I am missing higher ancestors that do not have a female spouse registered.
I really do not wish to restart a tree again from scratch when paying for 2 Genealogy websites.
I wonder if Genesreunited has an option to make an internal copy to a new profile/tree name and then split the tree at a certain point, making only viable the branch required? My intentions are to use MyHistory.com to print all my fathers side & all my mothers side, but seam unable to do this simple request myself.

Some family tree programmes import Gedcoms less well than others. I think they all have their peculiarities.

I don't know anything about MyHistory.

I use RootsMagic, and have not lost any relatives or other information on importing a Gedcom from GR.

The main problem I have found is that occupations entered on GR show on RM in the box for the place where the person had that occupation, so that when I print out a Narrative Report it says - eg - Mary Smith was in Dressmaker.

I've had to enter all occupations in the "Description" box rather than the "Place" box on RM after transfer of the Gedcom.

A bit annoying and time-consuming, (and not strictly necessary, if I don't mind the wording!) but at least no info is actually lost.

On Exporting Gedcom's I find that I have either persons missing from the tree who are in my Genesreunited Tree or as I have discovered through MyHistory they are broken links hidden and not appearing as connected to the tree.

My intentions are to use alternate software to transfer all my ancestors onto, and then split the tree to make smaller individual tailored trees. The problem is every-time I do I appear to be missing family members on my transferred tree.

What would cause this and how can I rectify it please?
