Thanks Inky - I'l get OH onto it. Part of the problem is likely to be saving it again as un-zipped so that I can pick it up for a FMP upload.
Come to think of it, it might be possible to delve into the depths of the hard-drive to see if there is just a names and events folder.

Seems I do have a zipped file/folder. I typed *.zip into the search box and up came a zipped folder “last modified 21Nov2005”(!) (All my Family History data was copied onto a new pc last year.)

Clicking that opened the folder to show six Word files containing BMD data. Each file compressed by more than 80%.

I right clicked on a file and then clicked Open. It opened in Word. You would need to right click then Copy?

Don't know what you are using. In Windows10 I typed "unzip a file" in the search box and got this:-

Zipping and unzipping files
(two tabs "Zip" & "Unzip")

On the Unzip tab:-

Open File Explorer and find the zipped folder.
•To unzip the entire folder, right-click (or press and hold) it, select Extract All, then follow the instructions.
•To unzip a single file or folder, double-click the zipped folder to open it. Then, drag or copy the item from the zipped folder to a new location.

Help from Microsoft Was this helpful?

These instructions are similar to those for previous Windows versions.
I do not have any zipped files so I cannot test this.

Think he tried that - all it did was to open them in my off-tree programme :-0

I've tried to up load my master offline trees. Unfortunately they are Zipped gedcom files which isn't acceptable. We can't work out how to un-zip them. :-0

Anne,

Nice to know it is not just me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

However, having read your post I then logged in to FMP.com again, and LO! my tree is available. I suggest that you too have a look for yours.

Frankly, I prefer the GR format. Though I might change my mind when I have had more time to review the displays. And also any printing options. If you can access your tree click the 'thing' to the right of 'My Hints' and note the tick boxes towards the bottom.

"Show Living" - not likely!
"Public Tree" - Oh, so FMP is going the Ancestry route with Public and Private? But there does not seen to be a way of searching other trees? (If there are any, maybe everyone is keeping them Private.) So if you happen upon the search facility, please let me know.

I had the same thing happen to me when I took up the black friday offer. My tree has still not uploaded.
I have since decided not to bother, weather or not I will do later we will have to wait and see. So I havent been back to the customer support to ask why it hasnt uploaded.

My Prime tree is on here. And I do regular gedcom downloads. I took the FMP.com Black Friday offer of full access for 25% of the usual annual price. And today I thought that I would upload the latest gedcom to FMP just to see what it looked like.

On the upload screen was this message:-
Please note we cannot upload any media files referenced in your GEDCOM.
Currently limited to GEDCOMs containing a maximum of 120,000 people.

120,000?

So I hit the upload button and waited. And waited. Eventually a message showed that the upload had taken 6mim58sec.

Eagerly clicked the tree to see what it looked like. Only I got another message:-
Gedcom import - import failed - Customer Support are investigating

Well, it's Saturday, I doubt anything will happen until Monday.
Also, how come a gedcom prepared by GR cannot be successfully uploaded into FMP?
