Sadly none of mine are on family search and I found the Anglo German society only wanted you to join up with a sub They wouldn't help at all

You could try them though .they may have changed their remit

Mine even did say British subjects on one census but no naturlisation records found at Kew
I asked there and was told it often happened . The Enumeator would ask "do you have the right to be here?" If they answered yes the enumerator would put British subject didn't mean they were !!!

OH's great grandfather was German and I did find a lot of records relating to his family on familysearch.org. I did know that he came from Bavaria which narrowed it down quite a lot.

You could see if the Anglo-German Family History Society can give you any help, www.agfhs.org

My paternal grandfather was German and it's a big brick wall as can trace him and his parents for about 25 years here in the uk but that all

They never said where in Germany they came from on two census the 1891 and 1901 and all efforts to find them before being in the uk has been a no no

Records were kept locally in Germany so you would need to know the area they came from
I used to know a keen researcher who spoke German and often went to Germany looking for his own ancestry .he also looked for mine but couldn't find anything at all on them

Lots of records too lost in wars

Presumably you're after historical records between German nationals?

Use http://www.cyndislist.com/uk/ as a portal.
Familysearch.org have a number of collections, but it does help to know where they might have married.
They're mainly ones from Parish Records
Ancestry also feature a number.

In the majority of cases, the records are in German. Remember also that boundaries have changed over the centuries.
