The London version changed greatly over the years. The first time I went the local groups were squashed into a corner - after that they were given more room. I'm sure the crowds were getting smaller and I never worked out what the sizzling sausages had to do with family history (they were in the midst of other stands not in a food court).

I thought hard about going to Birmingham to see how it was, only one change on the train instead of two. But the fare was a lot more and there could well have been difficulties over getting a seat at any point of the journey. I decided not to bother.

Now the Yorkshire FH Show people are bringing and event to Sandown Race course in Esher (Surrey) - I shall try that and see how that goes.
