Exporting Gedcom

Because of the Gedcom problems Genes is not the best place to keep your main tree.

Personally, I only have a few names on here and keep my main tree offline.

Customer support did get back to me and emailed my GEDCOM file. However the lady tried to make out that it must be a problem with my email service provider as she said it works fine for her.
Well it doesn’t work for me and I do not suspect there’s anything wrong with my email provider. I guess not enough people subscribe to this site anymore for Genes to do anything about it, which is a shame because I still use Genes for tree building

It's been like that for many years, Simon, and isn't the only thing that could do with being updated or fixed. Hey ho!

You may have to wait several days for a reply to your email - but they will reply.

I have emailed them thank you. If it’s a regular issue they should fix it. I’ve been paying into this site since day one. It’s not right that genes keep ignoring the problem.

The Gedcom difficulties come up on the boards all the time.

Hi all
It’s quite a while since I exported my GEDCOM file, so I thought it’s about time I did it so save it.
Every time I try to export it, it just says preparing GEDCOM but it never actually comes through to my emails. Where is the customer support on this site…….I can’t seem to find it anywhere, there isn’t a link that I can see……am I missing something ?
