Hi Patsy

There is only 1 RC chapel in the village of Ahoghill and if you're looking at a map, it is situated on the outskirts of the village, on the Portglenone side. It isn't a very big village, so it wouldn't have been able to support more than 1 RC chapel. Is it possible that the church is in the Parish of Ahoghill which extends over quite a large area (over 12,000 acres and 29 townlands), rather than in the village itself?

Hi Danny,Many thanks for all of your hard work although not many Kanes really. It will be worth me keeping this info though as something may lead foward with the names.I suppose if you were poor you may not have appeared in a directory and as a Farmer at this time with the famine and all Michaels Father may have been in a bad way.I have found a name of a chapel although not sure how close it is or where i may find any parish records. It was called Aughnahoy Chapel according to Google and is near to Ahoghill.Thankyou again for your help and best wishes from Patsy

Hi Danny.Yes Michael Kane Father James Kane said to be a Farmer and Mother Mary Kane nee Gray.Martha Kerr whose Father was Joseph and Mother Mary I think she was born in Derry.Michael was said to be born abt.1833 and Martha 1835 according to Scottish census records. They married in Ahoghill so the records say on the 31st of May 1856 they were in Scotland in the 1861 and also had a child Mary who was 3 years old by this time who they said was born in Airdrie but i can find no record of that and wonder if she may have been born in Ireland as well. The marriage was Roman Catholic which i believe fits with the Ahoghill area.Anything you can trace on this family would be brill and thankyou so much for your help.Best wishes from Patsy

Hi patsy Im not sure how many churchs but i do have trade, street and people directories for there in that year. Do you happen to have a first name to go with kane or kerr or maybe an occupation. If so i can check and get an address and you can then locate the nearest church at that time. Danny

Hello me again.Has anybody out there any idea how many R.C Churches are in Ahogill Co.Antrim? I did contact one awhile back now but have no idea which one but the priest couldn't help me trace the marriage of Kane and Kerr in 1856 so wondered could there possibly be more churches than this one. Thanks from Patsy
