Just a general question - I have wondered about this for some time. I have noticed that when births are entered in the register that you can't predict the page number. For example, you might have Cheadle Vol 17 page 36. Emma Tuffnall born A/M/J 1844 Vol 17 page 38 Elizabeth Tuffnell born J/F/M 1846 Vol 17 page 36 Hannah Tuffnell born J/F/M 1851 Vol 17 page 36 Why don't the pages go forward? Is there any rhyme or reason to this? I have noticed this so much over the years. The further on you go in time, you would expect the page numbers to rise, but this isn't necesarily the case! |

Its just a case of different books I think. So once one book has been used another is started, so they dont just go up and up like you would expect, they go up then stop and another is started again. |
