You can search the Irish civil registration births on the LDS film. I know that name Whelan, I saw it somewhere recently. Happy hunting.

Full age just means he was over 21. If you have an idea of where he was born, you could order the microfilm of the parish baptism register from your local LDS centre. You can look at their catalogue to see which parishes have been microfilmed: http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHLC/frameset_fhlc.asp It only costs a couple of pounds to get the microfilm on loan.

Well Romanies and sometimes Irish gypsies dont always register their kids births, especially back then they didn't. My great gran was a Romany gypsy, her birth isnt registered. She didnt have a normal wedding, she 'jumped the broom', so that wasnt registered either! However she fortunately registered the births of her 3 children.

Doesn't it give his age on the marriage certificate?

Daniel

Daniel Report 25 Apr 2007 18:49

No, all it says is Age Full which dosent help much. Danny

His fathers name was william wilson and his mother sarah whelan. I also thought that he may have been younger but that would have made him 18 or younger because she was only 19. the only other option is that he may have been over 10 years older than her. Guess ill just have to keep spending money then. Danny

Sorry, I don't know much about Irish records - only that they are more difficult to find than English ones. Have you got the marriage certificate? Is his father named on that? Maybe you can look for the family through the father. Can't think of anything else to suggest, except maybe he was younger than his wife and was born after 1905. Kath. x

The person in question was born in ireland. Iv done two 5 year searches for him at the northern ireland gro and to no avail but they did find his marriage. I thought he was born abt 1900 but now i know he wasn't born between 1895-1905 but his wife was born in 1905 Danny

You mean their birth can't be found on the GRO? Maybe they were registered ( after 1837) and you will find it on the local list but the information never got included in the master copy. Whether before or after 1837, you might find a baptism or you might find your person named in a Will and you can possibly work out relationships that way. Gwyn

Do you mean a birth? What sort of year are you talking about? Can you find them on any census? Kath. x

If someone wasn't registered how would i go about finding them? If anyone has any ideas, that would be great. Danny
