My great uncle lived with a lady called Jean Talbot. After my uncle died we tried to keep in contact with Jean then all of a sudden we stopped getting cards, phone calls and when we went to her property she didn't answer the door. We believe she died. I'm trying to find out but can't come up with anything. She lived in Battersea but her daughter (who I don't know anything about - they didn't get on too well - I believe) lived elsewhere. We lost contact about 2000 I think but I can't find any death records. When it says registration district instead of a London one is it possible that if her daughter registered the death it would be wherever she lived? |

Samantha, Deaths have to be registered in the registration district where they occured. Have you tried looking through the full BMD indexes on Ancestry - its free Ann x |

You can now register deaths in an area other than that in which the event happened. As you know the address, perhaps someone could check the electoral roll for that area, to see if the lady was still there for a while. Remember that there could be a delay in the information being updated. Gwyn |

Gwyneth You can register a birth or death anywhere - you always could - but the registration is logged in the area where it occurred and will appear in the index for that area. It is merely a concession for convenience - the registrar passes the details on to be registered in the correct district. OC |

Thank you for your replies. Sorry for the delay in replying. My internet connection went. I think I'll have a look on Ancestry and see what I find. |
