I want to start looking for a family member who went to live in America some time ago - not quite sure of the year but would really appreciate being pointed in the right direction of where to start looking?! thanks, C.

You didn't say how long ago but some of the entries into America can be accessed via the Ellis Island website. remove brackets. http://www(.)ellisislandrecords(.)org/ There are passenger lists here too http://www(.)findmypast(.)com/HomeServlet Sue

I can look at Ancestry, if you'd like to give some details. Not on here consistently though, as my home computer died. :(

Hi Lisa, it would be great if you could, though don't really want to put his details on here as the person may still be living! Maybe you could let me know when you're home computers up and running? C.

Have tried both these but the person I'm looking for was born in 1941 I believe, so I guess he may have gone round about 1960 ish onwards. Neither site covers these years unfortunately. C.
