Hi Found the following on the IGI: Marriage: Thomas Ramsey and Marion Rymor in place called Monimail Fife. Birth: Andrew Ramsey 6/3/1727 in Balgaric Cotton Fife Can anybody tell whereabouts these places are in Fife. I'm having no luck, tried Googling them but nothing. Thanks Cheryl

I think you should Google again for Monimail - lots of references. If you are looking for locations in the UK it's always worth trying www.streetmap. Monimail is on there. As regards the other name, Cotton is a shortened form of Cottar Town, a group of farm houses provided for cottars (farm workers). These would have been tiny locations and there would have been very many of these so named. Often they would be called something like Cottartown of McKinney. Many names will just have died out. Try looking at GENUKI FIFE. You may not get the answer there but it may lead you to a book or society that can help. Denis.
