I was very encouraged that someone who had lost a family in the 1891 census got so much help from this site and wondered if I would be so lucky? I am looking for William Reid, b around 1851, wife Sarah Ann b. 1851 and daughters Florence b. 1876, Ada b. 1878, twins Gertrude and Bertha b. 1880 son William b 1883(?) and another daughter Ethel b. 1885 (?) In 1881 the family lived in Hulme, Manchester and father was a soda water bottler. In 1901 they are still in that area but father is a publican, but am curious to know if they were recorded in 1891 census - I couldn't find them! Looking forward to hearing from anyone. Thanks in advance. Jane

You can find publicans listed in old street directories, many of which feature on the Historicaldirectories website.

I just wish members would stay online for a short time after posting requests for help. Thankfully this one was so easy to find. Maureen

From the wording of the request, I suspect that the poster thinks that she will be contacted, rather than having to check back. I do wish GR would give guidance to new members about the procedure on the boards............ Reg

Reggie, I was just going by the membership number. It is unclear as to whether or not they want the details sent as a pm but either way the details needed posting on the thread so other people could see what info had been found and to discuss if it was the right family or not. Maureen
