I have an address on an 1936 australian army enlist form for my father where he has listed his next of kin as ....I think as it is very difficult to read. Mrs E Waring (Aunt) Bullsend Farm Chosley Wood Bucks England Any one got any ideas where this might actually be? |

I have to go to bed now as it's after midnight here but please don't be afraid to hazard a guess. My father grew up in Slough if that's any help. |

Hello Kerry, I don't know whether you got my last message, as the site seemed to be playing up a bit. I think the address should be Chorleywood, which is in Hertfordshire. I have however found a Bullsland Farm which is in Chorleywood, but the Bucks boundary is next to it. Nearest area is Philipshill Wood, Chalfornt St.Giles. Hope this info helps. |

The boarders of Buckinghamshire are prone to moving about over the years but there is a Chorley Wood in Bucks. |

I got out of bed to google Bullsland Farm because my father used speak about a farm, that had stables and horses and a head plowman who won plowing competitions and a cook who was very kind to him and on special occassions gave him treats of homemade choclate from a jar that she kept on the top of a high cupboard. so now I'm wondering if this is 'The Farm' that he told us many a story about when we were children. I need to figure out which aunt it was as his mother had two sister whose names began with E, being Ethel & Elizabeth and his step father's sister was Eleanor. (thank heaven for the 1901 Census). If is was Eleanor then she was not actually related to me but I really want to know as much about the farm as possible. |
