FTM 2005 Relationship Problem

FTM says my 4xgreat grandfather William Cree is 'no direct relationship'. His father is shown as my 5xggrandfather and his son is shown as my 3xggrandfather. So why is it saying William is no relation? Has anyone else had this problem? I have over 1500 people in my tree, could it be that there are too many for the programme to handle? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks. Lynne.

Shouldn't be a problem - I have over 10,000 names in one of my FTM databases and it has just worked ok for me with a 9 x g grandfather. I would check again that you have the names entered correctly - you haven't managed to enter him twice have you

Peter Thanks for your response. The trouble is I have 24 William Crees in my tree but I have checked and double checked that he is not entered twice. Lynne PS: Going out for a while, will check back later.

Ok sounds as though you are picking the wrong one. Go back from yourself to the one you want and use him as the start point. Then pick you as the second name.

I had something similar and eventually sussed Id duplicated a rellie - so they were hanging out somewhere on their own. Have you tried running the error finder through the program? Im sure you will sort it out soon.

Peter Thanks for the advice but I have done all that. Heather How do you run the error finder? Lynne
