Hi Im researching into my step dads family and found his older siblings births are with a different mothers maiden name,the three younger children including my step dad are down with another maiden name. Milburn Ruck, Ivor Ruck , Herbert Ruck, down in births with mothers maiden name Pugh. Ronald Ruck, Iris Ruck, Ernest Ruck, down with mothers maiden name Phillips . i have found a marriage in 1909 for Milburn Ruck and Gertrude Elizabeth Pugh but no marriage for a Phillips. I assumed maybe Milburn married again to a woman with last name Phillips but no,Contacted my step dad and asked him what his mothers name was and he said Gertrude Elizabeth,then i asked what was her maiden name and he said Phillips at this point i was confused.I asked if his father was married before and he said no.What makes it more confusing is that if there is two women they both have the first name. I thought maybe the birth file was a misprint but surely not on three births in three different years. Any help would be great Thanks Linda. Hi dont know if anyone remembers my message above,but had the marriage cert come today and: Milburns father was Amos which is who i thought it was and Gertrudes, well there isnt a father down just a line through it.So no help there,BUT one of the persons present was a Noah Phillips which is the surname that was bugging me. maybe Gertrude was married previously.the 1909 marriage cert would confim if she was married before

The 1909 marriage her maiden name was Pugh.she had three children whos births i have with mothers name Pugh which fit. Then had a futher three children with the maiden name Phillips,but first name is still Gertrude Elizabeth ,hope you understand that.

Can I just clarify this. Are you saying that Gertrude Elizabeth married in the name of Pugh and gave her maiden name as Pugh on the birth certificates of Milburn, Ivor and Herbert and then gave her maiden name as Phillips on the birth certificates of Ronald, Iris and Ernest? It suggests to me that she was happy to be connected to the Pugh family up to a certain point and then distanced herself. Was this during the First World War? Was a member of her Pugh family publicly disgraced?

maybe gertrude thought her name was Pugh- maybe she was raised by a step father? what more do you know about her?

Dont know much,i know Milburn and Gertrude were from Wales originally,then moved to Nuneaton and Married i just find this strange as my step dad has said his dad was only married once.Gertrude died in nuneaton in 1973 aged 73yrs.Dont know if im on to something no one seems to know about or wether these names are a welsh version or something i just dont know.hat are the odds of a man marrying twice to women with the same first name.

Gertrude cant have married in 1909 if she died aged 73 in 1973, can she? Looked it up, she was born 29 sept 1888- died 1973 Nuneaton

Sorry Gertrude died in 1973 age 85yrs in Nuneaton Warwickshire.All her children were born in Nuneaton.

Dont know when Milburn died,all children got the same father.
