Thanks all So it wouldnt tell me spouses name then. Its my great grandad who left my great gran when her kids were very young,iv got him living back with his parents in 1901 thats it.Apparently he left her for a woman in a local pub and moved to leicester and had at least 1 more child dont know if child took his name or not.Would there have been divorces in the early 1900s.His name is Thomas Elsworth brn 1844 in Ripon,Yorkshire, moved and lived in Nuneaton,Warwickshire until 1901 maybe longer. Wifes name was Priscilla King (Elsworth)

if the informant was the spouse they will be named as widow, if it was a child of them that was informant , you won't get spouse name does that make sense, lol

In England and Wales you will probably get the spouse's name (in the occupation column) if it was the death certificate of a woman who had married, but not if it was for a man. Scottish death certificates do give the name of the spouse and both parents, but not place of birth. Chris
