Hi, I am doing research for a friend, and have a hit a brick wall. I am trying to trace a Jeannie Holman, who had a James Leonard Holman in 1924, in Hexham, Northumberland, and the address looks like the workhouse. No father is listed on the certificate. I have no idea where Jeannie was from, or her age, just that she was working as a cook, domestic in the area. I have worked backwards from 1911 to try and trace her birth and come up with a couple of not very convincing possibilities, but don't know how i could prove any of them are her. I cannot find the house she worked at, South View , Blanchland, in any trade directories... Help! I'm really stuck!!
