Thats great Elizabeth, Can I ask did you notice if eldest son William was named Caunce or Ashton? I knew he was born out of wedlock a Caunce, and also knew he changed name to Ashton, trying to narrow down search of when he changed his name, Thanks again Ann x

Thanks Elizabeth, no didn't know, havn't got that far back yet, but I will save this info for a later date. btw with the info you found for me I have located the marriage of William Caunce Ashton in 1897. I need to get his birth cert to see if fathers name is on there as family stories think maybe Thomas Ashton wasn't his father - have got his details so will send for that. Have been asking my 93yr dad for most of my info but he gets a little mixed up sometimes, but I am slowly working it all out. Once again thankyou for all your help Ann x
