Zoe the 1881 census seems fine it's just the 1901 they need to sort out. Georgina. |

I sent an e-mail to Ancestry about this yesterday evening. They replied back almost immediately saying that they are working to resolve the problem. :-) Chris |

Thank you Georgina & Jodi for replying. I thought it was rather peculiar & am glad to hear that it's not just my tricky family continuing to make life interesting! Hopefully someone at Ancestry will sort it out soon....(or maybe not!). I haven't checked the 1881 does the same apply there I wonder? ...Zoe |

Yes, thats happened to me too. Someone posted a thread about it on here the other day. I attached some of the records to my tree and noticed on the facts and events, its also coming up as residence in 1891, not 1901. Hopefully they'll sort it out soon! |

Zoe it is not only your family members who have had their birth years decreased by 10 years, as far as I can see it is every entry on the 1901 census, although when you see their ages they dont match birth years. Who ever transcribed it needs to go back to school. Georgina. |

I excitedly saw that Ancestry now has the 1881 & 1901 Scottish censuses so thought I'd revisit my mother-in-law's family but have become very confused. All her relatives have had their birth years decreased by 10 years which is making it hard to find them. It is not just 1 household but on checking 3 others seems to be the norm, the weird thing is that their ages are correct. Has anyone else come across this? Here's an example from the 1901: Elizabeth Halliday Age: 6 Estimated birth year: abt 1885 Relationship: Daughter Father's name: John Mother's name: Ellen Gender: Female Where born: Cambusnethan, Lanarkshire Thank you....Zoe |
