Hello all. WARNING TO ALL MEMBERS There is a bug on this site! Your data file may be open to others without your permission or knowledge. I have noticed that I keep getting lots of messages telling me that member XXXX has shared their tree with me. I have not asked them to do so and they have not personally granted such permission. I told GR support about this matter. Their reply is below: 'I am afraid the shared tree emails seems to be a bug on the site. I will let the technical team know about this.' In the mean time I have deleted my tree to protect the privacy of my data. You might like to consider what action you wish to take. Lord Martyn

Oh dear, when are they going to sort out this site?

Thanks Martyn for the warning. I only have a couple of members of my tree on here because of this. Pat

The 'shared tree' PM's are only because people are clicking on the wrong 'buttons' on the message centre...........if you look there, you'll see how easy it is to do.............so much garbage around the boxes, no wonder some folk get confused........ Reg

Yes, Reggie is correct, not so much a bug at all, just business as usual.

Peter If it is not a bug in the system, then why do you keep appearing in my contact list every day even though I keep deleting everyday? I know we have had contact in the past, but not recently. This has only happened since the latest update from GR. They have told me that they are getting the techies to look at it. I am getting contact messages with dates of over 2 years ago. This site has gone to pot Margaret

If it's only people clicking the wrong button in the message centre, why do I get messages giving me access to trees of people I've never had any contact with? I personally think it's a bug in the system.

Hi Margaret, Yes there is a bug that cause old contacts to keep re-appearing, but this wasn't what I have been referring to. Some members are of the opinion that trees keep opening themselves by devine intervention - this is what I am sceptical about. Pxx I

Peter Again today you appear in my contacts list, even though I delete you every day. (metaphorically speaking) Margaret

Maryn. You may have deleted your tree but I have found a name for one of my ancestors that married one of your ancestors. SueXXXXXXX

Margaret, I have sent you a pm. If you try and delete the contact again it should work.
