sorry and thanks for all your help but i was meant to say john gibbs, samuels father. Also i have reference of john gibbs wife elizabeth anderson born drayton middlesex. i cant find a drayton in middlesex |

Eton is one of those places that has moved counties. In the local government reform of 1974, Buckinghamshire lost Slough and Eton to Berkshire. |

the 1881 census shows his place of birth as Stoke Poges with parents John and Elizabeth. In 1901 it gives Slough. He was then a private at the Duke of Wellington Barracks in London. I think these barracks were on Kings Rd Chelsea. Julie |

Hi, Eton covers a few parishes including Slough. According to FreeBMD he was born Samuel Charles Gibbs in Mar 1881.
