I have a subscription to ancestry UK, and would not be without it!! I find it invaluable ....... both for my own research and ifor helping people on here. However, I took the free trial for 2 weeks for the US Ancestry a couple of years ago to check out the one aunt who emigrated in 1902 ................ I found all I needed. I was told by someone to be sure and cancel BEFORE the 14 days were up, as they start charging immediately the 14 days are over. So ..... I notified them by email after about 9 days that I did not wish to continue. No problems at all!! They ask for credit card details because that is how you pay for ancestry in most cases. They want a means of getting the momey from you when you decide to stay!!

It is free, as long as you cancel before the 14 days is up. When I first joined, I took the trial and when I cancelled I wasn't charged.

ive got the same trouble with ancestory free trial. ive tried to go it but they say you need redit card details which i havnt got. what is the point in saying free if its not when you get charged afterwards.

I mean with the free trials. I know in the past that some people have had trouble with being charged after the free trial has ended. There is a 14 day trial on at the moment.
