GETTING CERTS

Can anyone tell me the best place to send for certificates and what is the normal charges. Cheers Kathy

gro(.)gov(.)uk do all the certs and are £7 each.

Katherine, The GRO is fine if you are sure you have the right one. But if you need to use checking points, it is worth sending to the register office direct enclosing a stamped addressed envelope If your checking points dont match, they will return your cheque uncashed. If you use checking points at the gro online service and the checking points dont match they will only refund you £4 and keep the other £3 A list of register office addesses can be found here http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/RegOffice/

There are register offices that will not issue certificates for family history purposes, the main 'culprits' being those in London.....So it could be worth your while checking if they do so before sending a request. Chris
