A mothers name will only be on a death certificate if she was the one that registered the death. As most people outlive their parents, then no - you wouldn't usually get a mothers name on a death cert.

Depends who registered the death. I have a childs death cert from 1886, and on it in the Occupation column it has the words 'son of then gives fathers name and occupation, his mother was the informant, so was named as mother. From the GRO site here :- http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/research/investigatingyourfamilytree/Information_recorded_on_death_certificates.asp Column 5: Occupation if the deceased is a child under the age of 15, the words ‘son (or daughter) of’ is usually followed by the father’s name and occupation

Hi, I have asked this before about finding siblings, my grandfather was born 1903 and then I have a gap of 10 years till a brother was born 1913 I have never seen a death cert before was wondering if mothers name would be on this but I am thinking it wont be could any one confirm this for me plz?
