Have you tried contacting the researcher who is making a One Name Study of the HURLEY surname? They are registered with the Guild of One Name Studies and may have information logged about your missing people. You can find a link for contact here... http://www.one-name.org/cgibin/search.cgi?find=2344 Gwyn

Well, you could trawl ancestry complete bmd index to find their marriages but an easier way - LOL - if they married before 1920 - you can pay to view on familyrelatives.org - their index is name/area/timespan searchable from 1866-1920 (and I understand that they will shortly be adding 1837-1865). Id do just a surname search for b,m and d which would bring up all those with that name and then wade through deciding who are yours. After 1911 the spouse name is shown ditto maiden name of mum on births.

Finding people after 1901 is difficult: The commonwealth war graves commission website - http://www(.)cwgc(.)org/debt_of_honour.asp?menuid=14 National Archives - (for medal cards, etc) http://www(.)nationalarchives(.)gov.uk/documentsonline/power-search.asp?searchType=powersearch And ancestry(.)co(.)uk hopes to have all possible WW1 pension records up in the next 12 months - though many have been destroyed Good luck Lin

I've done quite well in researching lots of my family tree back to 1800 or so, however, my great grandmother had several brothers and I can't fathom out what happened to them. I don't have any living family members to ask and I can't find any answers in BMD records etc. I've got there birth records, and 1901 census info, but from there nothing. I posted on the trying to find page months and months ago and nothing so far. Their names / details are:- John Hurley (born circa 1882) (parents John Hurley / Elizabeth Carey) Vincent Douglas Hurley (born circa 1890) (parents John Hurley / Kate Carey) William Joseph Hurley (born circa 1892) (parents John Hurley / Kate Carey) George Sidney Hurley (born circa 1894) (parents John Hurley / Kate Carey) Joseph Frederick Hurley (born circa 1899) (parents John Hurley / Kate Carey) All born / registered Gravesend, Strood, Kent. I'm guessing they probably went off to war, but don't know if they survived it, married, had children etc. Any ideas how I can go further with this line? Thanks, Jane Walker
