When you export your tree, you are emailed a GEDCOM file suffixed .GED This can then be imported into most Family Tree Software, e.g. Family Tree Maker where you can view and edit the data. There are other Family Tree websites that will accept GEDCOM data so that you can upload your tree to them, e.g. Tribal Pages and GenCircles. Some functionality on both these sites is free.

Robert, if you have exported your tree from GR it will just be sent to your email addy. You need to install a family tree program on your computer to actually view the info. There are free ones, like PAF from familysearch.org - but most of us have Family Tree Maker 2006 onwards. It has so much more to offer than the GR one - have a look at twr computing - its only about £12.95 at the moment including free ancestry sub for a month. You can back it up to cd and/or the internet and create your own home page which your friends and rellies can view on the internet.
