Sometimes things get so messed up, it is really the only sensible way out. You'll probably find your PC is a loadfaster after it's done too as all the accumulated rubbish is removed in one swoop. It's a pain having to re-install everything and getting everything back up to date (Windows Update, McAfee, etc) but it is worth the hassle.

Thanks Linda, yes they have mentioned about reinstalling XP, but Iwasn't sure whether they were just trying to get more money out of me. Its just so fustrating having spent all that money and its still not right. Thanks anyway. Kind regards Jelly

it sounds as if something, somewhere along the line keeps getting corrupted. I'd be tempted to get Windows installed from scratch, assuming you have the disk, and gradually re-introduce each peripheral one at a time; installing it, checking for the most recent driver updates and then running for a couple of days to check if all is well. If your computer people haven't suggested this, they should have. Make sure you back up ALL your data first as re-installing windows will wipe your C:\ drive.

Is there any body out there that can help me with my computer. It is costing me a small fortune trying to get it fix, each time it comes back from the menders £20 a time, it works for a few weeks and then packs up. The problem started with the start up Cmos memory setting, that has been sorted. Its when I got it back from the menders I conected my printer back up, my daughters web cam and the scanner. The printer said usb cable corrupt so I tried another that also said corrupt. Then the web cam was corrupt and my daughters ipod would not be recognised. Back to the PC shop I go another £20 and 2 weeks down the line its just happened again. I can't manage without the printer as I like to have a copy of all my census. Anyone got any ideas I'm running XP with McAfee fire wall and R300 epson. Any help will be much appreciated. Jelly
