If you go to the Irish GRO websites there are phone numbers if you would rather phone your order through. If you have a fax machine you can do it that way too. I don't know why everyone is so concerned about writing their credit card no. on the application form when applying to the Irish GRO's. It's no different than purchasing something by phone and passing on your Credit card no. then. Anybody working for that company/shop can fraudulently use your number if they really want to. However I would NOT use my Debit Card in this way as then my bank account would suffer! |

What other way is there of ordering a cert from Records Office in Ireland apart from visiting? They don`t make it easy do they? Years ago my mother got a cheque from the bank but she didn`t have a credit card Ros |

Can I just say be very careful about putting your credit card details in a letter that can be opened by anyone, I know the Irish dont make it easy but I would never put card details in a letter. Georgina. |

Hi Rosalyn Thanks. This is the 21st century and the Irish GRO still doesnt have an internet ordering service for certs. They know the colossal amount of English people with Irish ancestry. Ben |

Hi I have downloaded a form to send off for an irish marriage cert in 1848 by post. I can only pay by credit card as cheques is in euros. There is a space for you to put your card number and my number is 16 digits long, yet there are 3 more blank boxes at the end. I dont know what to fill in as I have put my full card number in. Is this for the card security code or do I leave this blank at all? Thanks Ben |
