Viewing new tree: - am giving up for today - have cancelled the request for the ancestor view. (Tips still welcome on this aspect). Viewing the input area is now OK for me. I've moved my screen resolution back to 800 x 600 (my eyes aren't all they were!), and followed the tip on using the zoom button at the bottom right hand corner of the screen. I can now, as Peter, see just over half of the input area as well as all of the immediate family view.

Peter, Thanks for the comment. My resolution was set at the 600x960 (from memory), so I have reset to 1064 etc as you recommend. It has shrunk all images dramatically, so this may well help viewing more than one line at a time. My immediate family view does load very fast (probably less than 3 seconds) - what I was trying to say is that if I change from 'immediate family view' to 'full tree' it seems to take a long time to 'request tree data'. I have therefore asked it to just show the ancestors view. I put the request on at 17.19 and it is still trying to fulfil the request (so that is now 25 minutes plus). Are these other options simply unworkable, or is there something I am overlooking?

I have a tree with just under 300 names and it loads in approx six seconds, in Immediate Family view. I don't understand the comment about keyhole surgery either. My input area takes up half of the lower part of the screen and has at least seven lines of input on view, with all the main fields on view. You then scroll down slightly to see the notes death and marriage details. Check your screen resolution My preference is for 1064 x 768 which fills the screen reasonably well.

Jeanette, I took a quick look at the new tree, and promptly went back to using the old tree. What are the workarounds with the new tree? 1. Do you only use immediate family (as in, presumably, actually loads 'immediately') and then hop thru' the generations? I'm waiting for the 'ancestors only' view, since the full tree was taking so long to load - 19 minutes, and counting, for the ancestors. From other people's comments, my tree is not very big at a shade over 200 entries. 2. Do you view the input area one line at a time? It feels like keyhole surgery... Comments very welcome!

Sorry, can't add any photos to my tree - if I do and I open my tree to anyone they'll steal that along with all the info - then I'll be really, really, really mad (even madder than I normally am). No. I'm going to remain selfish and small minded and even arrogant and keep it all to myself - so there!!!!! *blows rasssssssssspberry just to make sure*

Don't be such a technophobe, I'm sure once you start using it regularly you will wonder how on earth you ever managed with the old one. Go on, be a devil and have a go. Alternatively you could always hire my services and I could do a home visit and give you personal tuition - all for a very reasonable charge - just pm me if you'd like more information.
