im trying to find the connection to my family now i have 1881 census caroline barnes age 40 widow,head elizabeth bassindale age 19,daughter born belton lincoln 94 boundry street liverpool im trying to find the marriage of caroline to find out if her maidan name is bassindale,but have come up with nothing anyone got any suggestions,have looked on freebdm,latter day saints.roots thank you joyce from holland

Joyce You do not have to subscribe to Ancestry to search the BMD's............they are completely free to everyone. And you have more chance than anyone else of knowing if you find your own relatives........... Reg

ok thanks reg but could i just ask do you think that bassindale could be caroline maiden name,cos when i put it in i kept getting 1881 census nothing else so it was,nt telling me anything so am i doing it wrong

This will probably confuse things even more! I cannot find births for any of the children under the name of Bassendale or Caroline with a father William or even William before 1871. I have found a Caroline and Robert Barr on the 1861 with a daughter Louisa of the right age and there are births for Barr children at the right time and place. thank you potty but i dont think the barrs are conected i have marriage cert of elizabeth on it says robert bassindale is her dad and emma is her mum,so thats more confusing will just have to keep trying thank you joyce

Mother's names are not given on English marriage certs..........did they marry in Scotland? Reg

no your right reg it only had fathers name on marriage cert ,elizabeth bassindale got married in 1890 in all saints church.west derby lancaster,her father was robert bassindale,did oder birth cert for ada bassindale but not sure if its mine her parents are on the cert as 24 feb 1865 wroot ada ,girl father .robert bassindale mother .emma bassindale formerly williamson information,mother emma bassindale registration district .thorne sub district epworth in the county of lincoln what do you make of it afew people have said they would bet that robert is her dad joyce
