Hi Paul, do you know where they lived? If it's Ontario I can look around for you. And if so, would you have birthdates, please? I am almost certain my Stuart's had that spelling, as the name was passed down to other family members (as a middle name). Hi Margaret, the parents could have died by the 1881 census. Now that you mention it, I don't remember seeing Dora! I will have to try various spellings to see if I can find her. On another note, someone on my mum's side is missing from the 1881 census as well (they lived in the same town as Dora), so perhaps information was lost. Thank you both for your input and can't wait until after work so I can look around for Dora again! |

Lisa, shouldn't they be on the 1881 Canadian census? I can't see them. Margaret |

Funnily enough, I'm looking for a James and Sarah Stewart in canada, but they were children that arrived in 1882. |

Hi Maria: I actually have seen that James, and didn't think he was connected. However, I will try to see if I can follow up on his life, to at least say it isn't him! Thank you for the suggestion and for looking. Best of luck with your searches. |

Dear Lisa Try the Canadian archives - www(.)collectionscanada(.)ca - remove brackets. There are databases to search including the 1871 census for Ontario - there is a James Stuart born in Ireland aged 56 who is a clergyman but couldn't find any reference to Sarah or Dora. Best of luck Maria |

I'm stuck and looking for help, please! Cannot find ANY information about my ancestors: James Stuart married Sarah Fowley. Only know they were both born in Ireland. Had at least two children: Dora Emmeline Stuart (my greatgrandmother) born 1861, Lambton Mills (Toronto) Ontario and Sarah Stuart born 1855. Both Dora and Sarah are on the 1901 census. (I have all information for Dora.) Have not found anything regarding James and Sarah. Suggestions very much appreciated!!! Thank you. |
