Burial registers often just name the village in the space for address, you won't get a house number or street name. Sam x

Thanks for that Andrea. I might try the London Metropolitan Archives to see if they hold any records. As I speak I have just found a webpage for the church and it gives some links, so I'll follow them.

Ajwyorks Report 26 Mar 2007 14:20

From 1813 burials were recorded in standardised books by the church concerned. The columns to be filled were Name, Abode, When buried, Age and By whom the Ceremony was performed. So the burial register of St Giles would tell you where Charles Lamb lived in addition to the info you already have. It is highly unlikely any other info would be given.

My interest is CHARLES LAMB from Whitby. DIed c. 1833/1834 - i.e. before civil registration. He could have died in London - no records in Whitby. London St Giles aged 36 buried 06 Jun 1832. I need the information to discover whether this Charles Lamb was Charles Lamb of Whitby and my husband's great-great-grandfather.

I would have thought that you could only find most of those details from the actual death cert. However, the Record office or cemeteries department in he area in which he was buried might be able to help with the date of death. Ann Glos

Someone has kindly given me details of a burial index entry. I want to follow it up further as there is no death record for the person concerned. How do I find out details of the person buried - where he was living/staying, the cause and date of death etc? I need to know because it isn't even certain whether this is the right chap. Any help appreciated.
