when my computer does that I take the lead out of my internet external modem, for some reason the box needs refreshing and the Internet supplier told me that is only way to free up problems. It seems it can jam the computer in or out of log in with internet. hope this helps gill |

It could be any number of things but there certainly is a program running which is taking up a lot of your computing capacity. To check what it might be, open Task Manager (Ctrl, Alt, Del) Then click on the processes tab. Click CPU once , then click CPU again. This will bring the processes that are running to the top of the list. Unless you are running another program, you would normally expect to see System Idle Processes at the top of the list. If there are any others taking up large amount of CPU, then make a note of what they are and get back with the details. |

Hi Peter, Thanks for the suggestions. I have done that and at the top is System Idle Process and a long list of things under it. Linda |

OK, you are looking for something that has a large number in the CPU column as this is taking up resource. If 99% or so is against system Idle then you don't have a rogue program running so we will have to try something else. |
