I read this on a tip (sorry, can't remember who said it), so I tried googling the name of the small village where several generations of my family lived and I found an amazing photo of my grandma as a baby, with her parents, in the front garden of their house, taken in 1891! This was on viewfinder.english-heritage.org.uk they've got loads more photos, worth a look.

Hi Bumbly, That's brilliant. I googled my name on Ebay a few months ago and found a book for sale in USA. Four of my Great Great Great uncles had emigrated there (all news to me) and all of the families had got together in 1990's and written a book with photos of just about everybody. I bought it for £20. It's my pride and joy. I am now in touch with some of them. Linda

Great site, thanks for the link, I thought I would have a look, the only photo that came up for Heysham Lanc's from the 1930's was for the Tea Gardens were I was brought up. My Gmother and her sisters used to run it. Brill, Many thanks again for pointing me in that direction, I've got something to show the grandkids when they visit Kevin
