Thanks Paul - yes I had this - it is one of the siblings. There was: James Emma Louisa Mary (died 1835) Sarah Susanna WILLIAM HENRY Adam Horatio Theophilus (my favourite name!) Edward Edwards (died 1835) Mother Sarah was fairly destitute after Charles' death - his family helped her out by leaving clothing etc in wills. She ran a public house at Cross Guns Baxtergate. I think there was a bar there when Charles was a gunsmith there - to supplement income. |

My husband's great-grandfather William Henry Lamb born 22 December 1829. Father Charles mother Sarah. Charles died/disappeared c. 1833/1834. No death record found. Can anyone help? William and two of his siblings (Sarah and Adam) in Whitby Union Workhouse 1841. Mother Sarah remarried (Christopher Seaman). Adam is with them on 1851 census. William Henry Lamb reappears on the 1871 and 1881 censuses as a tobacconist in Baxtergate, Whitby. Wife Elizabeth. Son William Henry born 1872. William Henry senior died 11 June 1881 Whitby. Where was William Henry senior in 1851 and 1861? I've been searching for years to no avail. Any tips please! |
